OK, the convening conference is over, the ACELC has been established, a Board of Directors Pro Tem
is arranging for nominations and elections for the first regularly elected Board of Directors which should be completed by July 1, 2011. So now what? Do we just sit back and wait until next year’s conference, meet and eat, and enjoy the fellowship of like-minded Lutherans once again and then go home? Nothing of the sort!
Yes, there is a bit of a “pause” while the regularly elected leadership is chosen, but that in no way indicates inactivity! First, you should know that eight congregations of the LCMS joined the ACELC at our convening conference
after establishing the association by resolution. They are:
Good Shepherd, Lincoln, NE; Grace, Grand Island, NE; Grace, Lexington, MO; Holy Cross, Albany, OR; Holy Cross, Kansas City, MO; Messiah, Vicksburg, MS; Trinity, Austin, TX; and Trinity, Layton, UT.
Thus far since the conference in March, more congregations have added their names
to the effort to assist our Synod to become unified in its doctrine and practice. They are:
Good Shepherd, Brandon, MS; Grace, DeSoto, MO; Immanuel, Eagle, NE; Mount Calvary, Excelsior Springs, MO; Our Redeemer, Cedar Falls, IA; Trinity, Fredericktown, MO; Trinity, Norborne, MO; and Zion, Gravelton, MO.
In addition to those who have officially joined the ACELC there were conference attendees from twenty-six congregations from Nebraska, Missouri, Illinois, Michigan, Kansas, Texas and Minnesota. We pray they will give prayerful consideration to joining the ACELC.
As you can see, not only is there good support by those who have chosen to join the ACELC, but the potential to become a strong voice within The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod is clearly evident.
And this is just the beginning.
Additionally, the ACELC Board of Directors Pro Tem
, is preparing documentation on the identified errors that fall under the category of the official dissent process (Bylaw 1.8.1 and 1.8.2 in the 2010 Synodical Handbook
) The newly elected Board of Directors will submit the errors to the CTCR. They are also preparing to send the 26 other identified and tolerated, but not official, errors to the Praesidium of the LCMS for the action of these chief ecclesiastical supervisors of the Synod. This will also occur following the elections. The BOD Pro Tem
has also aimed to write and distribute additional study materials on the various errors for use by congregations, circuit pastors conferences, circuit forums, and others. This is in keeping with our strong desire and goal to promote broad-based, Synod-wide study of the errors under the Word of God and our Lutheran Confessions.
If you missed the ACELC’s convening conference, then by all means order the three DVD set of the various conference presentations and panel discussions.
They are an excellent resource to use in studying involvement in the ACELC’s work or to engage the topics of error within your congregation or circuit. Check our website for information for ordering. The cost is $40 per set which just covers production costs and shipping. The title of the DVD series is "My Brother's Keeper." Order The Free Conference Videos.
You’re going to be hearing a lot more from the ACELC!
